Town Talk is a feature that started in the Suburban Journals in the St. Louis area. I used to enjoy reading the crazy letters to the editors that were occasionally published in the opinion section of this free rag. Usually it was an assortment of weird conspiracy theories, racists diatribes, random rants form cranky septuagenarians, and lame quips from would be Erma Bombeck and art Buchwald types.
At some point a brilliant mind at the newspaper got the genius idea to let people leave messages on the papers answering machine and the paper would transcribe and publish all the comment they received. Once the usual assortment of oddballs figured out how to utilize this feature, the floodgates opened and they were soon publishing all sorts of deranged comments.
Now, through the miracle of the internets, a am able to peruse this weekly freakshow chautauqua from the safe distance of my abode in Denver and pick out the best comments for your reading pleasure in a semi weelky series of posts I call "Town Talk Posts of the Week."
*No one actually READ my old Blog, But since this was the best feature I came up with, I'll call it popular.
